How to Eat to Support Your Body After Fertility Treatments
Because your body’s been through hell—and it needs more than just “clean eating.”
Let’s cut through the fluff: fertility treatments wreck your hormones, drain your nutrient reserves, and leave your body confused, inflamed, and exhausted.
You were pumped full of synthetic hormones.
You were told to “trust the process.”
You might’ve gained weight, lost sleep, wrecked your digestion, or completely lost your cycle.
And now… they send you on your way with zero support on how to heal?
Nah. Not on my watch.
If you want to start feeling like yourself again, food is your first line of defense—and your most powerful tool for recovery.
What Your Body Actually Needs After Fertility Treatments
After IVF, IUI, or any hormone-heavy protocol, your body needs to do three big things:
Rebalance your hormone levels (especially estrogen, progesterone, insulin, and cortisol)
Rebuild depleted nutrients used up by synthetic hormone metabolism
Support your liver and gut to detox leftover hormones and inflammation
And guess what? You won’t get there by starving yourself or going back on birth control.
You get there by nourishing—not restricting—your body like it’s in recovery. Because it is.
The Post-Fertility Recovery Plate: What to Eat & Why
Here’s how to build meals that actually heal your hormones:
1. Prioritize Protein (Every. Damn. Meal.)
Protein is essential for hormone production, blood sugar regulation, and cellular repair.
-Aim for 20–30g per meal.
Best sources: pasture-raised eggs, organic chicken or turkey, wild salmon, grass-fed beef, Greek yogurt, collagen powder.
2. Eat Healthy Fats Like It's Your Job
Fats are the building blocks of hormones—especially after your body’s been stripped by synthetic meds.
Best fats:
Avocados
Olive oil
Ghee
Coconut oil
Fatty fish
Nuts/seeds (like flax, pumpkin, or chia)
Bonus: These fats also help absorb fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K.
3. Load Up on Fiber-Rich Carbs (No, Carbs Aren’t the Enemy)
Your liver and gut need fiber to get rid of excess estrogen and old synthetic hormones still hanging around.
Best choices:
Root veggies (sweet potatoes, carrots, beets)
Squash
Quinoa, wild rice
Berries, apples, pears
Cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts)
4. Support Your Liver (She’s Tired Too)
Your liver had to process every single synthetic hormone you were injected with.
Support it with:
Bitter greens (arugula, dandelion, kale)
Lemon water
Beets
Milk thistle or dandelion tea
Cruciferous veggies (again—they're liver MVPs)
5. Balance Your Blood Sugar Like It’s a Full-Time Job
Blood sugar swings = cortisol spikes = hormone chaos.
✔️ Eat within 60 minutes of waking
✔️ Never skip meals
✔️ Always pair carbs with protein and fat
✔️ Cut back on caffeine and refined sugar (yes, even if you're exhausted—especially then)
Common Mistakes to Avoid
❌ Skipping meals or intermittent fasting (especially if your adrenals are shot)
❌ Low-fat diets
❌ Excess caffeine to “power through” fatigue
❌ Restrictive detoxes or juice cleanses (not what your body needs right now)
You don’t need to detox your body. You need to nourish it.
Bottom Line?
You don’t need a fad diet. You need a recovery plan.
Food isn’t just fuel—it’s feedback. Every bite is a chance to tell your body:
